Duffy Lake Loop Ride

A few of us went on this great ride the Canada Day long weekend. It was a 3 day, 2 night trip in the BC interior.

We left early to ride up to Nanaimo, caught the ferry to Horseshoe Bay. Then the crazy Sea To Sky Hwy to Whistler, of course coming up on some traffic on the long weekend. We then kept riding through Pemberton past Duffy Lake and arriving in Lillooet for food and stayed the night.

Day 2, started with a good breakfast then riding the 97c to Merritt going by the Highland Valley Copper mine. We did meet up with a friend that worked at the mine and gave us some very interesting facts. Also, this mine is huge, the trailing pond in 11km long!

We had lunch in Merritt and then rode the 5A down to Princeton for the night. Once again a great breakfast we rode down through Hope onwards to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal and then home. On the ride was Geoff, Bill, Wes Joe, Steve and myself. A great ride with some great friends.

The 101 ride

This was a weekend ride down the coast of Washington state. I didn’t go on the ride but I hear it was eventful. The group they had a few hiccups along the way, some minor mechanical issues, the surprising realization that sometimes online hotel photos don not match reality. All in all they had a great experience. Some photos. Also, when gotta go, you gotta go!!

Events for 2023

May

May 13th. Group Ride around lower Island.

May 20-21. May long weekend. 101 Ride. Take Coho ferry to Port Angeles Washington. Ride down the 101 Hwy, stay the night around the Westport area. Here are a couple reasonable priced hotel/motels where we could stay;

Ocean Shores Inn & Suites, Bayvue Hotel Resort & Suite or the Shiny Hotel.

Once we have decided on a hotel you’ll need to book your room. You can always choose your own accommodation. Other items you’ll need to do, make Coho reservation for May 20th, check your passport and check vaccination requirements for USA. Second day would be to ride back to Coho ferry for home. Will have to book accommodation soon.

June

June 10th or 11th. Group ride around lower Island.

July

July 1-3, Canada Day long weekend. Duffy Lake Loop. Ride to Nanaimo, catch BC Ferries to Horseshoe Bay, ride Sea to Sky Hwy through Whistler and Pemberton. Stay in Lillooet at Reynolds Hotel.

Then we could ride to either to Merritt and stay the night or ride to Princeton. Then ride the Hope/Princeton Hwy back, then catch ferry at Tsawwassen to catch ferry home. Option 2 is for just the one night in Lillooet then ride to Tsawwassen ferry.

Will have to book accommodation soon.

July 15 or 16th. Group ride around lower Island.

August

Aug 12th. B.A.C.A. ( Bikers Against Child Abuse). This is just a day ride. Meet at Mosi Acqua Cotta 4649 W. Saanich rd. KSU 10:00am.

Aug 26th or 27th. Group ride around lower Island.

September

Sept 10th. Ride to Live. This is a day ride. Meet at Enrico Winery 3280 Telagraph rd MillBay area. KSU 10:00am.

Sept 16,17. Port Alberni Toy run. Dates confirmed.

Sept 24th. Oyster Run. In Washington state. More details to come.
